1. Describe the stasis in the play: where, when, who, what, etc. in a paragraph.

Yankee Dawg You Die starts off with Bradley Yamashita and Vincent Chang sitting outside of a Hollywood party. Both are Asian American actors that seem more relaxed talking to one another than the caucasian people at the party.

2. What is the intrusion?

The intrusion occurs when the two start talking about rumors and flaws of the other. This transition from relaxed to angry seems kind of sudden. It shows that the two actors are concerned about their position in the industry since they seem to think of themselves as the go to asian american actor.

3. What is the unique factor?

This is the day that Vincent and Bradley meet and talk about asian americans within the Hollywood acting scene.

4. What is the dramatic question that should be answered by the end of the play?

Who has the correct strategy?
Will Vincent and/or Bradley switch strategies?
Will a compromise be made?

5. Provide an illustration of the two kinds of exposition that the play has in it.

An example of the first kind of exposition occurs during the interludes of both Vincent and Bradley. Only the readers know Bradleys frustration of what the industry expects out of his acting.
An example of the second type of exposition happened when it is revealed that Bradley supposedly murdered a man for harassing his date.

6. Identify the most theatrical moment in the play and of what importance it seems to be.

The most theatrical moment in my opinion would have to be when Bradley and Vincent are arguing with one another and as tensions get higher Bradley gets the final jab in and says that Vincent looked like a monkey in his last role. This is because the two got carried away with arguing with one another and once the final nail in the coffin was said the argument just came to a complete stop. this change from high tensioned anger to quite offended aftermath makes for a very dramatic transition.

7. List some of the themes of the play.

Stereotypes
Masculinity
the portrayal of Asian Americans in Hollywood

8. Choose one of the two characters in the show and tell me why you decided to choose to discuss him. Then articulate what he wants and what are
some obstacles that stand in the way of him getting what he wants?

Bradley wants to be considered an amazing actor that receives roles that are typically casted to caucasian men. Bradley wants to prove that he is worthy of those roles even though he is asian. He has to overcome the social norms within Hollywood casting. I chose Bradley because I plan on working in the film industry in the near future and the fact that no many asian american are casted for significant roles in the film industry has popped into my head many times. I think characters like Bradley would really help make a difference in who is casted for many different film genres.

9. Describe some possible images in the play and how does the title help us understand the play.

The fact that the two of them are separated from everyone else at the party is the biggest image of them all. They are separated in both the party and in the film industry instead of being incorporated in more often.

10. Briefly define the family relationships that are examined in the play.

There really isn't much of a family relationship incorporated in the play. If anything it is more of a mentor and student kind of dynamic. Even though they are very harsh to one another's past experience, Vincent is still Bradleys idol and role model. The two want whats best for asian american but even though they don't really see eye to eye on what strategy is better they still respect one another.
